Universal Pictures along with the Coen Brothers are teaming together with original producer Martin Bregman to remake the classic movie. Instead of Scarface being from a Cuban imigrant from Miami he will instead be a Mexican Imigrant from California. The remake plans to follow the old script and with new graphics the movie will be more realistic. No director or lead actor has been formally announced.
After getting a green card in exchange for assassinating a Cuban government official, Tony Montana (Al Pacino) stakes a claim on the drug trade in Miami. Viciously murdering anyone who stands in his way, Tony eventually becomes the biggest drug lord in the state, controlling nearly all the cocaine that comes through Miami. But increased pressure from the police, wars with Colombian drug cartels and his own
drug-fueled paranoia serve to fuel the flames of his eventual downfall.
Scarface is a 1983 American crime film directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone,a remake of the 1932 film of the same name. The film tells the story of Cuban refugee Tony Montana (Al Pacino) who arrives in 1980s Miami with nothing and rises to become a powerful drug kingpin. The cast also features Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Steven Bauer, and Michelle Pfeiffer.The New Scarface movie in 2008 will be another remake but the cast is still to be announced.
