12 Year old girl with Epilepsy is suing the U.S. Attorney to Legalize Marijuana.

Alexis Bortell, a 12 year old Medical Marijuana patient in Colorado, has filed a lawsuit against U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions regarding medical marijuana legalization.Due to legal restrictions, the 12-year-old, who turned to legal medical marijuana to control her seizure disorder, is unable to return home to her native Texas to visit family.

"I would like to be able to visit my grandparents without risking being taken to a foster home," she told KDVR.

Since the 1970s, marijuana has been classified as a Schedule One drug in Texas, ranking it alongside heroin. Bortell's father, Dean Bortell, told KDVR he doesn't understand that logic."How is that rationale? It's not compassionate either, but rationality? It's just outrageous," he said. The 12-year-old and her parents were forced to uproot their lives, moving from Texas to Colorado for access to medical marijuana to help control her epilepsy, according to KDVR.

Alexis is Joined by another Child , an American Veteran, former Denver Broncos Player Marvin Washington and Marijuana advocacy group. Their attorney hopes to get a judgement within 18 months. Alexis wishes for everyone to be treated the same like any other kid with an illness.
