Couple in California are caught using drones to deliver drugs.
Since drones have came out many people speculated that they would cause trouble. Drones have been used to fly drugs across the us borders but now a couple in California we're charged for distribution of drugs after they we're caught flying them to their buyers. Felony charges were filed Tuesday, Dec. 26, against a probationer and his girlfriend who are accused of dealing drugs out of a Riverside home and using a drone to deliver the contraband.Along with three counts of possession of controlled substances for sale, the couple is charged with child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police started their investigation months before after they were alerted by neighbors of suspicious traffic coming from the house. Upon investigation police started to see a drone fly from the yard. They followed the drone and watched it drop off a package a few blocks away. Police noticed seven people who were waiting for their package delivery.The activity prompted investigators to obtain a search warrant where they found numerous types of drugs. The couple were arrested and have over a $100,000 bail and are awaiting trial. Drones have been used in numerous occasions worldwide to deliver illegal drugs, Two men were busted outside of the Western Correctional Institution near Baltimore, Maryland, after police claim they attempted to use a drone smuggle drugs, tobacco and pornography into a prison.
In August of 2015, two men pled guilty of attempting to smuggle 28 pounds of heroin into the U.S. border at Calexico, California, a small city near San Diego. The four men were discovered with a remote control, binoculars, and two pounds of rolled up tobacco.A drone carrying phones, marijuana, and tobacco crashed outside the Lee Correctional Institution near Charleston, South Carolina in July of 2014.
