Roy Jones Jr says he wants to Fight Anderson Silva he's just waiting on Dana White to sign off.
Roy Jones Jr is well known for his boxing antics taking on any opponent willing to take on his boxing skills. Well now Roy Jones Jr is calling out Anderson Silva for a boxing match. The only thing that is holding up the match he says is Dana White. Roy and Anderson Silva have already agreed to fight in the ring but they are just waiting on Dana White to sign off on the fight. Roy Jones says he believes this will be a more believe able fight for the boxing fans than the Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Fight. Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva held the longest title streak in UFC history, which ended in 2013 after 2,457 days, with 16 consecutive wins and 10 title defenses. Roy Jones Jr is a six-time former world champion in four weight classes, having held titles at middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight; and is the only boxer in history to start his professional career at light middleweight and go on to win a heavyweight title and taking while winning a silver medal in the 1988 Summer Olympics. Both fighters have thousands of fans who support their careers and could be a good opportunity for Dana to make some money.
The problem with the comparisons we see made between boxing and MMA is that they involve only the smallest percentage of actual prizefighters. The fact that Floyd Mayweather made a guaranteed $100 million for a single bout tells us only that Floyd Mayweather is doing very well and nothing about how the rest of the professional boxers are compensated. The fact that a UFC prelim fighter makes more than a boxer on the prelims means very little if there are more main card opportunities that pay better for boxers. This will be left up to Anderson Silva's team to bid on a higher amount for the fight since Boxers do make more than UFC fighters. Dana White must also be willing to invest his money and put his name on the line to make the fight happen. It's uncertain weather or not this will happen but Roy Jones Jr seems anxious to make this happen, as well as boxing and UFC fans waiting to see a more realistic fight than the Conor Mcgregor and Floyd Mayweather money fight!
