American Actor Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, claims he is the new Tupac in a way. After comparing himself to similarities to the rap legend in his recent interview with Esquire, he says, "“I know everybody likens themselves to Tupac a lot,” he said. “I am the new Tupac in a strange way. I grew up similar. I didn’t have a mom in the Black Panthers, but my parents were very pro-black. Also, my mom made me go to performing-arts high school. She was like, ‘That’s where you need to be.’ Sometimes you have to play a role for people to understand you, even though you’re far more complex than any of that. Sometimes it’s really hard to simplify that so people can eat it. Many like Glover have also compared themselves to the new Tupac, there was a time when 50 Cent was compared to Tupac and other rappers like T.I. , Ja Rule, and LiL Wayne have copied the image of the legendary Tupac Shakur.
After several self-released albums and mixtapes, Glover signed to Glassnote Records in 2011. He released his first album, Camp, on November 15, 2011 to generally positive reviews. His second studio album, Because the Internet, was released on December 10, 2013. Glover was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2015, Best Rap Album for Because the Internet and Best Rap Performance for his single "3005".Glover's third album, "Awaken, My Love!", was released on December 2, 2016, spawning the hit single "Redbone", which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2018, Glover was nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for "Awaken, My Love!" and Record of the Year for "Redbone", eventually winning the award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. While he has had a successful career he has yet to achieve record sales or achievement like Tupac did as a Hip Hop/Rap Artist. Tupac also had a successful career as an actor appearing in many movies like Above The Rim, Juice, Poetic Justice and more which received many nominations and sales. With hundreds of songs made and multiple albums by Tupac, do you think Chilidish Gambino is the Next Tupac??
